Cost and complexity of the project

How customers choose KMD developers
After the experts discussed the nuances of interaction between factories and developers, the host of the discussion club Denis Kuptsov asked about the criteria for selecting contractors. Valery Mokhov shared his vision for completing this task, outlining four aspects:

Number of employees in the design bureau
The first selection criterion for the customer is often the number of employees in the agency. With telegram in philippines the spread of remote work, it has become difficult to estimate the exact number of specialists available for hiring. The presence of people in the office increases the customer's trust, as this instills confidence in the company's resources.

The cost of developing a KMD depends on the complexity and labor intensity of the project. For example, when creating structures for simple hangars or warehouses, detailed information on color solutions and fire protection is not required. This reduces labor costs and, accordingly, the cost of the work. However, when implementing larger projects, the presence of additional parameters and their development are necessary.

The process of coordinating drawings
In large projects with an EPC contractor, the customer often leaves many comments on the documentation, demanding changes. As a result, designers have to revise the documentation more than once.

Frequent changes in source data
In an effort to complete the construction of an object faster, customers sometimes force the provision of "raw" KMD documentation. Revision and adjustment occur at the stage of preparing a set of KMD. Such changes complicate the work of designers, requiring them to be more attentive and flexible.

Is it possible to speed up the documentation verification?
After discussing the aspects of selecting a contractor to develop documentation sets, a natural question arose: is it possible to somehow speed up their revision? What methods can EPC contractors use to achieve this goal?

Valery Mokhov spoke about two main methods: the first is checking only 3D models, without drawings. It was widely used before and included checking models by the customer's engineers directly at the factory. This method was very inconvenient, since to view additional parameters (for example, paint or fire protection), it was necessary to manually open the properties of each part and brand.

The second method involves checking KMD drawings in PDF format. In this regard, the expert noted that it would be a good idea to integrate the capabilities of a database for exchanging drawings into the MasterFab system. This would simplify the receipt, commenting and editing of PDF documents with 3D model views: engineers would be able to track the location, dimensions and possible collisions between structural elements, as well as view complex areas that are not visible in the drawings.

How can you organize work with customers?
Another topic for discussion was the importance of customer access to information on the status of documentation. Igor Kukushkin explained how the Scientific and Engineering Enterprises Group approached this:

"If we talk about how we set up our work with customers, then the story is as follows... We have a developed project management system. This is a system of a set of tasks that are presented in the form of a GANT chart, which reflects information about which person is working on what within the project. The customer sees this and knows how these tasks are completed. That is, it is simply an online platform, he (editor's note: the customer) has a personal account there, he goes in and looks at this GANT chart."
