4 web design trends for 2018

Post by suchona.kani.z »

Web design is not a printed business card, it is not enough to choose a trendy font or an imaginative design, it must also be functional for the user . This is a mantra that all web designers should keep in mind.

No trend is born overnight. All of the elements listed have been around for a while now, and we expect them to continue to grow. Here are the top 4.

1. Monotone backgrounds will be replaced by gradients
A gradient in designer parlance refers to a color transition. Usually between two similar colors – for example, blue or green. The proof is the change in Instagram's logo. On the left you see the form from 2013 and this is what it looks like today:

There are several variations on how to work with gradients, but the basic principles remain the same. The most common is a 2-tone gradient (exceptionally a 3-tone one). It is a distinctive element, so it is used in homeowner database combination with simple elements (so-called flat design). Gradients often work with inner and outer shadows.

For example, this is how the PragueBest agency uses this trend :

2. Sliders will replace animations and video
Many websites use sliders – multiple banners with text that change. This element is ideal for e-shops that promote recurring offers and other promotions.

However, the element has also been adopted by websites that present their competitive advantages or offers in this way. However, the slider scrolls slowly (otherwise the user would not have time to read the description) and the user does not like to wait. Therefore, more and more companies present the advantages of their services in video or using animations that are more easily attention-grabbing.

This is how Czech websites work with animations.

For example, the homepage of the real estate agency Svoboda&Williams immediately fills you with examples of their interiors:

Our website VstupniStudie.cz also uses video as an illustration. A designer draws a wireframe of a mobile website:

3. Animation on the page
Animations also have their purpose on pages, as they pull the user out of lethargy while they are scrolling.
