Factors to measure in social networks

How to measure social media

It's obvious. Each social network has different characteristics. Likewise, the parameters for measuring our reach will also be different in each one.

The metrics that Social Media provides will allow us to know if your publications are working for your audience.

Measuring the reach of your profile on a forex email list social network will give you tools to know how it is working. However, each social network will give you specific information about your community that you should take into account to boost your reach .

Our colleague Vilma Núñez created a table that explains the factors that are essential to take into account when measuring: branding, engagement and loyalty, and reaching new customers.

Each network provides tools to measure these parameters in specific actions. However, one of the factors that they all share is the number of posts and the number of interactions, which vary according to each platform.

Depending on what you want to know about your brand's performance on a social network, you'll need to look at a specific metric.

A metric for every Social Media Marketing objective
To measure customer retention and the number of new customers, look at the number of visits to your site from the platform you are analyzing. This will allow you to know not only which social network most customers are accessing from, but also what type of posts are performing best.

You can measure the awareness of your brand by the number of posts you make and the total number of followers.

For example, on Facebook to measure this factor you must also take into account the number of times a post is shared; on Twitter, the number of RTs and — as on Instagram — the impact of the Hashtags you used.

On the other hand, in a blog you will measure branding by the number of times your news is shared on other platforms.

An essential factor to measure on all social networks is the number of interactions . Each network allows users to interact in different ways, so each way of sharing content and interacting with other users or brands will tell you something different.

Likes, comments and mentions will allow you to know the engagement of your audience, the level of contact your brand has and what types of content are most attractive .

Social media allows you to build communities. When creating a profile on a social network, you should ask yourself questions about the community you want to establish and then interact with users in pursuit of those goals to boost your reach.

Don't lose sight of user habits
It is essential to take into account what users use each social network for and use it to interact with them on those terms .

An example of this is Twitter for real-time news and Instagram for more aesthetically pleasing posts focused on photography. The metrics we obtain will also be specific to each network: Instagram “likes” will not tell you the same thing as Twitter “likes”.

Taking into account why users choose one platform or another will allow you to create content in line with what they are looking for : posts that they like and want to share, thus boosting the reach of your brand's profiles.
