This is confirmed by the Entrepreneurship Map prepared by Spain Startup-South Summit and presented in collaboration with Madrid City Council, a report that has analysed a total of 1,720 startups extracted from the 3,800 projects presented at the Startup Competition, which will take place at the next South Summit 2019.
The 100 finalist projects of the Startup Competition , chosen from a total of more than 3,800 startups, will have the opportunity to present their ideas in pitch format before a prestigious jury made up of the main agents of the ecosystem, who will choose the winner of South Summit 2019 .
One in three startups has been founded by a professional over 45 years old
The data obtained from the Entrepreneurship Map have confirmed the consolidation of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, with 54% of entrepreneurs having created two or more startups , and the probability of failure for an entrepreneur who has launched more than three projects is much lower (16%) than for someone who has only created one (45%).

As for the profiles that work in a startup, it is noteworthy that 34% of Spanish startups have at least one founder over 45 years old in their team . The report also highlights that 55% of the most senior profiles tend to be solo entrepreneurs and work on Insurtech, Robotics and Big Data projects.

In this growing ecosystem, industries related to Healthcare, Artificial Intelligence and Proptech are entering with great force , those related to Tourism, Fintech and Insurtech are maintaining a consolidated history, and those focused on Marketing, Fashion and Blockchain are losing ground.
According to the Entrepreneurship Map, most startups begin their journey focused on the B2B sector , but as they grow they expand their business to other types of clients.
On the other hand, the more developed a startup is, the more it strengthens its professional team. The study reveals that 58% of them plan to expand their professional teams in 2019 .
Finally, he highlights that entrepreneurship is a desired option for 63% of entrepreneurs and not a desperate option to get a job (1%).
