The most anticipated season of the year has just arrived: summer . For many, it's time for vacation, but not for our smartphones, which don't take vacations, but rather we'll use them almost more than the rest of the year.
For this reason, Adglow , one of the most important technology and advertising services companies for social networks, wanted to analyze the use we give to mobile phones and social networks during this time of year.
The number of Spaniards who own a smartphone has doubled in the last five years and Spain has become the country with the most smartphones per inhabitant in the world, along with Singapore, where 92% of users have at least one of these devices, according to a study by the online platform Back Market.
The smartphone (89%) is the most commonly used device to connect to the Internet during the summer, followed by the tablet (28%). During the rest of the year, we look at our mobile between 11 and 50 times a day, and in summer 83% of Spaniards consider that the mobile is essential on their holidays.
Many Spaniards prioritise this device in their suitcase before their belize phone number toothbrush, make-up or shaving utensils : according to the ASUS Technology and Summer in Spain study, 18% of Spaniards say that the first thing they put in their luggage is their mobile phone.
Even when vacationing outside Spain, there are users who do not let go of their mobile phone : 92% of Spaniards connect to the Internet from abroad, and the figure increases among travelers who decide to stay on the peninsula (94%), according to the fourth AIMC Q Panel study.
According to Adglow, once at their holiday destination, seven out of ten Spaniards physically take their device to the beach or pool . The main reason for using a smartphone during the summer is to stay connected with friends and family (77%), and to search for information (59%).
Smartphones are overtaking cameras and video cameras on holiday : more than half of Spaniards now use their mobile or tablet to capture their most special moments. An unstoppable phenomenon that has reduced the number of cameras, for example: global sales have fallen by 70 percent since their peak in 2010, the year Instagram was born, according to this information from Statista.
Social media has exponentially increased the possibility of sharing photos and videos of our holidays with our friends and family. 21% of Spaniards use social media more during this period, with this figure rising to 30% in the case of young people. The most used social media during the summer are Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
