The experiment on expiration date control was carried out with the support of the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT) from February to August 2023.

"The developed solution will be relevant for every store, because the Government intends to introduce automatic blocking of expired and illegal products subject to labeling at all checkouts in the country - we are talking about tobacco and dairy products, packaged water and beer. The use of the mechanisms of the "Honest Sign" labeling system for automatic checks completely closes a serious risk to the reputation of trade organizations and gives confidence to buyers that they are protected from buying a low-quality product," said Alexander Smirnov, Director of the Department for Work with Partners of CRPT (the operator of the "Honest Sign" labeling system).
