I couldn't function without it. A copywriter who doesn't read won't write for long. Of the Czech specialty books, I love Milej zlatej by Roman Věžník and B_orNot_2B Copy Digest by Eva Žáčková. With every full moon, I look forward to Madla Čevelová's Full Moon Newsletter. I also enjoy GreenCat newsletters. Then I have various favorites in areas that interest me at the moment. So they may not be experts in e-mailing, but I need their advice and tips.
As a copywriter, how do you view marketing email copywriting? What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out?
I think the level of marketing emails has been improving in our country lately. Especially for established brands. But transactional emails remain disastrous. We have a certain rigidity in us since school years and a instagram database feeling that mandatory and official texts must be desperately boring and incomprehensible.
I would recommend that anyone who is starting out with email marketing focus on perfect subject lines. Because if the subject line doesn't interest the reader, it doesn't matter what you write inside the email. I wrote 7 tips on how to perfect email subject lines in an article last year. Maybe it will inspire you.
The difference between copywriting and content marketing is often discussed. What is your opinion on this topic?
In general, I always see things in broader contexts. So I am convinced that all marketing activities are related and should be interconnected. I like to work on projects in both of these branches. When creating content, I naturally get a better feel for the topic and then I do better with sales texts.
Alžběta, thank you for the interview. Would you like to add a final “snapshot”?
As an entrepreneur, I do most of my work alone, so I have to think carefully about what I will devote my energy and time to. E-mailing is one of the activities that I see as an investment that will pay off handsomely. Thank you for the invitation to the interview.
