Effective research with entertainment surveys

Post by pappu636 »

In the world of online surveys there are two types of people, those who see them as a way to entertain and those who see them as something very serious, and it really doesn't matter how you see them, what really matters is doing them correctly, understanding that there is a time for everything and that sometimes one ends up complementing the other.

The media often uses surveys as entertainment. Press, television programs, radio programs use surveys as a means to reach their audience and even if we don't admit it, we have participated in this. Have you ever taken a test to find out which movie character you are?

Surveys are also a key part of decision making for large companies looking to make a profit. They provide the customer or employee information needed to keep the business running. Therefore, knowing whether you are conducting an entertainment survey or a business survey before you do it greatly affects how you conduct it.

Entertainment surveys are generally not required to follow accepted practices for successful surveys, and time and cost are not guaranteed. In fact, entertainment surveys are often used to create a higher index for a biased survey.

For example:

Years ago a famous column in the United States called “Dear Abby” wrote a column portugal phone number the decisions we make in the future and asked the question: If you had to do it over again, would you have children? As a result, the column received more than 10 thousand responses and more than 75% responded that if they went back in time they would NOT have children. This caught the attention of experts and they decided to do a complete investigation. Scientific surveys were conducted with accepted practices. The results of that study showed that 95% of parents WOULD have children if they had to.

As we learned from this example, methods affect results.

So, do you conduct surveys for fun or for business? Companies strive for accuracy (or so I hope), but sometimes using accepted research practices isn't necessary when the information required is superficial and not worth the time or money. Before conducting a survey, it helps to decide what its purpose is, and then you'll know whether it should strictly follow accepted research practices or is just for entertainment.
