Focus on fundamentals
Technical best practices are “best” for a reason, and having solid basic technical SEO skills is still a must.
“For me, the most underrated technical SEO strategy has always been the most basic approach,” says consultant Joe Hall. “It may sound surprising, but the vast majority of my clients struggle to understand the importance of best practices and fundamentals. I think this is largely due to our community focusing on the ‘next best thing’ and not talking about technical SEO fundamentals very often.”
These fundamentals include difficult skills like knowing how to identify and fix crawlability, indexing, accessibility, and site performance issues, as well as how to prioritize the problems you encounter.
SEO expert Lily Ray points out that prioritization is one uae mobile database area that new technical SEOs need to improve on first, as they may be more inclined to identify small things as major issues when they are not: “New or junior SEOs will often send a list of technical items out of [SEO tools] straight to the client without prioritizing which ones are most important or knowing which ones can be ignored,” she says. “In many cases, these tools don’t even flag some of the more serious technical issues that could affect crawling, indexing, or rendering…Good technical SEOs are able to identify real issues that have a significant impact on a site’s ability to rank, and they know which tools or other resources to use to address them.”
So start paying attention not only to technical issues but also to the actual impact these issues will have on your site. Don’t get caught up in the clutter of technical work – make sure you’re in constant communication with your team and stakeholders who will help support your plans.
