How to build a marketing automated lead generation strategy?

The last point makes it clear that the use of a strategy in lead generation is an important success factor. A strategy is used by companies to increase lead quality and the number of leads and to improve the effectiveness of the strategy (Intellistart, 2021).

1. Define goals
Before starting the lead generation strategy, it should be clear what the goal is. How does the goal fit into the overall complex of company goals and how does the lead generation strategy contribute to the company goals?

Is the focus on acquiring new customers? Should the positioning be presented as an expert in a relatively unknown area? Or are there other goals that should be the focus of lead generation? After the goals have been defined, the next step is to identify the target group and their touchpoints for automation.

2. Define target group and customer journeys
If the target group is still unknown, you should get to know it! You should get a clear picture of what the typical ideal customer looks like. What characteristics and preferences characterize them? What demographic and psychographic characteristics are present and what problem does the product or service being marketed solve for the customer? Developing personas is particularly helpful here. The better the target group is known, the higher the probability that the predefined goals will be achieved.

It is equally important to define customer journeys and the associated touchpoints that serve as the basis for marketing automation. The customer journey describes the path a lead takes from the first touchpoint to a purchase and provides clues as to which marketing objects, such as an email or landing page, should be sent to the lead for further qualification using marketing automation.
